Faridah´s Story
Faridah beforespacerIn January 2005 the CRM team were in Nanywa at the home of the chief taking photographs and profiles of the children for sponsorship.

When we had completed the task Jane noticed a young lady in a wheelchair. She looked so sad and emancipated, she was so thin, her hair was matted and short and she had the look of hopelessness in her eyes. Jane asked if anyone knew her and she was told that the young lady had polio and that was why she was crippled.

Jane asked her if it would be alright to take a picture and some details of her and her circumstances so that we could try and get her a sponsor.

Thomas Kibirige, who heads up the Child Sponsorship in Uganda, visited Faridah in her home and found she was living in abject poverty. Her home was a mud hut and she had four small children. A man was coming in and just sleeping with her whenever he wanted, as she was alone and her home was not secure.

Thomas arrived with some provisions for her; when he arrived he found them starving and the children were malnurished. This little family were overjoyed at the love they were being shown.

Sarah Bunjo spoke to Faridah about Jesus, but she was not interested as she was a strong Muslim.

On Jane's return to the UK a sponsor was quickly found for Faridah and her 4 small children. Isn't it amazing how God provides for His people, by His people when there is an urgent need? It was such a blessing. The team in Uganda prayed about the situation and decided to move her immediately into a secure place. They decided to provide for her with a monthly allowance and save the rest to buy land and build her a house.

Faridah now - proudly holding up her sponsorship certificateWhen Jane returned to Nanywa in 2006 she went to visit Faridah and was amazed at the change. Faridah looked so different; her eyes were alive with hope replacing hopelessness, even her hair was done lovely in braids. She told Jane that she had become a Christian and had accepted Jesus as her saviour and friend. She took out her bible and showed Jane "Yesu is Malunji" which means Jesus is good.

She also told us the truth about her condition: as a young girl her mother had locked her in her hut and set it on fire. This left her crippled and burnt with scars up her arms. Faridah now attends every meeting in her local Church in Bombo town, about 20 yards from her new home.

We have been so blessed to see the hand of God in Faridah's life. If you would like to help or sponsor a child or an adult in desperate need then please contact us.
